Review: Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Lotion with SPF15

Hi lovely ladies! How was your Monday? Did you punch Monday Blues on the face? Or did you let it consume you? In any case, I do hope your day went smoothly. As for me, well, it's been drizzling the entire day. Surprisingly, the cool weather fueled me to turn my engine on and be productive. Needless to say, I had a great start. Anyway, today I'd like to share my thoughts on Godiva LicoWhiteTM Whitening Lotion with SPF15.

I'm not exactly a lotion person, and yes, I know it's a mortal sin to not moisturize. The thing is, I have this love-hate relationship with lotions, especially the sticky ones that does not seem to seep through. I hate it when there's a thick gunk sitting uncomfortably on top of my skin; it makes me want to run back to the shower and scrub it away, ASAP. But my feelings toward lotions changed when I started using the Godiva LicoWhiteTM Whitening Lotion.

It claims to help even out discolorations caused by age, scarring, and pregnancy. It also promises to give you longer-lasting, whiter skin due to its Glabridin content; a powerful skin whitening ingredient from licorice extract. Glabridin has been shown to effectively inhibit melanogenesis or the process of melanin production. Melanin is a pigment that causes skin discoloration.

It wasn't love-at-first-sight, or touch, for that matter. It actually turned me off the first time I used it because I didn't like the scent. I would describe it as soapy with hints of herbs due to its licorice content. It was rather too strong for my liking, but I eventually got accustomed to the it after weeks of usage.

You can see here that the product has started to slide down while I was taking a photo.
That's how runny the formula is.

The reason why I disregarded the scent was because, the formula is heavenly. It's exactly what I'm looking for in a lotion: runny and lightweight.  It's so easy to spread and it gets easily absorbed by the skin; no sticky feeling with this one. It makes my skin supple and radiant-looking, which is a plus for me. As for its whitening effects, I have not seen any significant changes on my skin color. For the record, I have been using it for 5 months already, on and off.

WHAT I LIKE:

- Affordable at 120php (100ml). It also comes in sachet, which is retailed at 8php (6ml) each,
- Easily available at Watsons,
- Light-weight,
- Does not leave sticky film on the skin,
- Handy packing with flip-top cap,
- Has SPF 15,

WHAT I DON'T LIKE:

- Not a fan of the licorice scent

VERDICT:

Godiva LicoWhite Whitening Lotion is a pretty basic body moisturizer that's perfect for everyday use. It's very lightweight, so you won't have to worry about turning into a pool of sweat under intense humidity. It also has the right amount of SPF, enough for daily commutes. I've been constantly reaching for it even if I'm just at home. I'm glad to have found a lotion that does not give me that dreaded "sticky feeling".  That's saying a lot because I am very picky with lotions.

TO WHOM DO I RECOMMEND?

To anyone who wants a lightweight, easily absorbent lotion that won't break the bank. Also, if you don't mind "earth-y" scents, this one's for you.

WILL I REPURCHASE?

Maybe not. I have to search for another lotion with the same formula, but with a milder scent. It's about time that I start exploring the world of lotions. Suggestions, anyone?
